New Holland Carhartt Woodsman Tour 2015
One year ago, New Holland Brewing Co. and Carhartt collaborated on a beer to celebrate the hard-working men and women of this country, embodying the craftsmanship they bring to the table each and every day - The Carhartt Woodsman was born.
For the second year in a row, they packed up a trailer and headed to The Great American Beer Festival in Denver, CO - the largest beer festival in the nation, to celebrate and showcase the new staple in New Holland's brew arsenal. With a van loaded with musicians who shared the same passion for craftsmanship, they hit the road, asking me to join as the audio engineer for the many concerts planned along the way.
The first stop - Empire, MI. After a tour of a hops farm, musicians Nicholas Barron and Drew Nelson took over the mics at Joe's Friendly Tavern, singing and sharing stories with the local audience.
From Empire the tour led us to Earthworks Music Festival where we were joined by singer/songwriter Bryon Friedman. I worked as FOH engineer at the festival as all 3 musicians took the stage, each bringing their own style to the performance.
The next stop landed us in Detroit. After a small show at Carhartt's new store, we set up shop to play a show at Hopcat Detroit for their Saturday night crowd.
Sunday we made the 10 hour trek to Columbia, MO. We set up stage on Quinton's rooftop patio, playing well into the night...even taking advantage of street pianos for extra performances after bar hours had ended.
The Carhartt Tour ended with a show at Bear Creek Lake Park in Colorado. The musicians took the stage one last time, playing into the night for the mountaintop party. It was here I was able to run sound for 3rd place finalist on "The Voice", Joshua Davis. The beer was flowing and the views were spectacular as the sun set behind the stage. An amazing experience and a great way to end such a fantastic trip.
